It’s always great to see your beard clean, shiny, well-groomed, and growing in health. So what does it take to keep a well-groomed beard that everyone admires? Well... It takes time, effort, dedication, and great beard care products one among these is a quality beard wash or shampoo.
Today, there are plenty of hair shampoo products in the market designed for your head hair but did you know there are actually quality beard wash products designed specifically for your beard hair? In this post, we look at how to use a Beard Wash for the effective cleaning and well being of your facial mane.
Washing Your Beard with Beard Wash
It is fairly easy to wash your beard, but it must be done with the right product otherwise you might find your hair will dry out and the skin underneath will become itchy. Yes, you need to wash your face every day, but not your beard. As you might know, humans have natural skin oil that the body produces naturally to maintain hair and skin. This oil is called sebum and the "lack of" this oil is what contributes to itching and dandruff or bearddruff as we like to call it. Washing the beard every day with a normal hair shampoo will strip these oils from your beard.
How Often Should the Beard Wash be used?
On average, you should wash your beard every two to three days a week. If you work all day long in a dusty or dirty environment, you might need to wash your beard every day, but always ensure you do it with a specifically designed product to protect both your skin and beard.
How to Apply Beard Wash
For easy application, start with wetting your beard with warm water, squirt a small amount of wash directly into your beard, then rub through your beard hair to create a slight lather. Use your fingertips and work the wash into all directions of your beard in a scrubbing motion. Let the wash sit for 1 - 2 minutes then rinse well. Use a clean towel to dry your beard gently and you are good to go. We recommend following up using some Lejonjon beard oil and balm for best results
